    Browning 1911 patent document

Our member, Niemi24 (Dan) was kind enough to clean up the patent document for Browning's 1911 pistol and send it to us, so that all members can view it. Dan did an excellent job at improving the document's readability, so we thank him (and his sons) for their work.

Here is a link to the document: Browning's patent document

    Thank you, Dan!

The USPTO should have such a nice copy.

My (our) pleasure, Walt. Our goal was to make it more readable without changing a single word. To that end, we even left the two misspelled words as they were.

Spell-Check went crazy with some of the old-time English words, such as "hereinbefore". It's still a difficult read, but at least it doesn't make your eyes go goofy.

    Cheers

This is an excellent copy. The only thing to improve it would be to post the 1911 companion patent of 1913, #1070582. This would complete the file to include the added thumb safety, and various patent claims for the 1911.

Our member, gc70, Randy, has come up with some better (i.e. cleaner) documents of the patent files. Each set contains a text document which has been cleaned up to enhance search capability and a pdf file that duplicates the appearance of the original patent scans but is more readable.

Here they are for your perusal.

    Browning's 1911 Patent of 1911-02-14 (.pdf file)
    Browning's 1911 Patent of 1911-02-14 (.txt file)

    Browning's 1911 Patent of 1913-04-23 (.pdf file)
    Browning's 1911 Patent of 1913-04-23 (.txt file)

    Thanks Randy!!
