I know, I know, I want one, but they are so rare. Right now I can find only one in Europe. I'll try to get it, we'll see.

Why not have one of your many, many friends here in the U.S. (present company included) get it for you and ship it to Greece?Originally Posted by John

Thanks for the offer to help, I really appreciate it.
There are some issues with this approach though, not enough to deter me from using it, but still something to consider.
For example, even if someone was to buy the lens for me and ship it to me, the cost for insured shipping would be quite high (and still the US Post Office lost $5bn in last quarter!!!!). If you add to that the import duties that I'll have to pay when the lens arrives, you reach the point where buying from US is not a very attractive proposition.
I could use that method only if I was to come to US any time soon, so that I could bring the lens back with me. In that way, I could avoid the international shipping cost and the import duties.
One other lens that my American friends could help me with, is the Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8 one, this was the top Nikon mid-zoom lens before the new 24-70mm f/2.8 was released. I would love to have one of these, the new lens is the G variety, with no aperture ring, so it can't be used on my F2A, hence I do not care for it. But the old "beast", as the 28-70mm was called, oh my, I would love to have one.
Again, thanks for the offer to help, I might take you up on this some day.
John,
Is the 28-70 a "D" lens?....I can not remember..

Here's a thought.....one of your many friends can find you the lenses you desire....hang onto them for you until you come stateside for the SHOT show.....????Originally Posted by John

Yes, that could be done, and I have done that on several occasions. Unfortunately, with the condition of the economy today, that may be in a few months or in a couple of years. Still not something I dismiss, but something that requires a lot of planning and patience.
