Hello Fellow Members
A newbie here.
I just acquired an AOC M1911A Competition Model and have no idea how to disassemble it due to the muzzle break. Can someone steer me to some instructions?
There'll probably be more questions as I dive in to this big boy.

Disassemble as you would an Officers ACP:
Retract the slide far enough to remove the slide stop from the frame. Then remove the slide and barrel from the frame, cupping your hand around the slide from the top to capture the recoil spring as the slide moves forward of the frame. Once you have the top end free of the frame, remove the recoil spring and guide from the rear. With the recoil spring guide out of the way, the muzzle brake should remove just like a barrel bushing.

I just picked one up about a week ago. The muzzle brake on mine had a full length guide rod in it and it didn't stop where most of these muzzle brakes on the AOC competition models are stopping mine went or actually it still goes from the top of the slide all the way down to the bottom of the slide in the front essentially if I look down the muzzle.. there's two holes in this particular muzzle break. So.. whereas mine has a full length guide rod in two pieces it just threads together. I had to use a hex key turning it counterclockwise to unscrew it. What kind of guide rod do you have in yours? Is it the standard GI model guide rod or do you know? If it's the full length guide rod you'll be able to see it...

My apology for the second message so quickly followed up from my first reply.. do you by chance know the exact years that the AOC competition models were manufactured at the West Hurley New York plant? I'm assuming that's where yours was manufactured....
My serial number is aoc-62585.. I have no idea how close to yours that would be.. but I'm trying to get a date but absolutely nobody that I've spoken with across probably 15 various forums and or websites can help me with this I'm wondering if maybe you can?
