    Metalife finish question

I searched the forums and didn't come up with a lot about Metalife. I like the look and the price seems good. I'd like to know someone who has had some first hand experience give me some feedback. I am looking at doing an old Auto Ordnance I have.
    Thanks!

I had Metalife do a couple guns for me in the late 80's or early 90's. The quality of the work I received was outstanding. The gent I spoke to at that time was Ron Mahovsky. Not sure if he's still there. Keep us posted....

Yeah I had a kimber slide done by mahovsky's. The metalife finish is more matte than most of the other hard chrome finishes i've seen, but it is MUCH MUCH MUCH harder. I tried to polish the finish up a bit...was looking for a more brushed look...nada. What took a few minutes with a buffing wheel and jeweler's rouge on another hard-chromed gun I had took HOURS and HOURS to achieve the same effect with the metalife finish. I consider this a good thing...the stuff is apparently bulletproof. After that treatment I would expect I will never see signs of wear in this gun. Also their pricing (at the time) was extremely competitive. Give them a shout.

Well,I sent out my beloved/hated Auto Ordnance. This gun has been a disappointment, but over the years I have worked the kinks out. I wanted to refinish it, hoping that a new look will erase my old loathing disregard for it. I decided on Mahovsky's Metalife. The price is right and all the feedback that I have received has been good.
Before I sent it in, I decided to round off the sharp edges on the front of the slide. It is a poor man's attempt at melting, but it turned out nicely. Just an hour with some patience and sandpaper turned out a much improved snout. I very slightly rounded the rear edge of the slide as well, but didn't want to go to far there because I felt it wasn't really necessary. I'll keep this thread updated, and hopefully have a nice "before and after" comparison. The turn around time is estimated to be 30 days, give or take. This will vary, depending on the work load at Mahovsky's. He explained to me on the phone that he has a contract for some large pipes or something that take a lot of time, and as a result, provide most of his revenue. He said he has to work the guns in amongst the other stuff, so that is why the turn around times may vary.
I have attached a few photos of the gun before, during and hopefully soon, after the refinish.
