well, i got lucky today. i hit the gunshow at the dismay of my girlfriend. i found a flash hider for my garands that i was going to buy but he was busy so i went looking for a surplus sock hat. i ended up seeing a black army 1911 in a display case with a WHOLE lot of junk so i stoped and asked to see it. turns out they wanted 2000 for it and its accessories. out of the corner of my eye i seens a rather lowley looking nickle plated (maby chromed) 1911a1, i figured that it was a beater essex or something like that so i asked about it. after finding out it was a "remington" i about passed out. after closer inspection it is a correct late production type 3 remington rand the only down side is that it was nicle plated.
now, here i am with 100 bucks in my pocket and holding my idpa gun trying my HARDEST to get rid of it to get my hands on that junk remington rand. luckly i had no luck with ditching that. i did however realize that the seller looked verry fimilure. i slaped the 100 down on the table and layed it away. ill be picking it up in a few weeks.
i know alot of you all would not pay much for a bubbaed usgi but ill buy and thing under 1000.
now that the guns pretty much as good as mine can it be restored? i know its not going to be collectable again but can the plating be stripped and can it be reparkerized with the correct color of parking?
