It seems like the Remington R1 is most comparable to the Springfield Mil-Spec model . . . a la Flared and lowered ejection port and 3 dot sights. Even a similar price point from what I can tell.
Would others agree?

Looks like a$400 mim/cast gun to me.... 600 is too much IMO.
... I finally got a chance to give the new R1 a try.. it is new to me and is my fist 1911 so I am not claiming to be an expert.. I ran about 40 rounds through it and it was a pleasure... if functioned perfectly.. I shot it pretty well... what more can I ask of it?? One thing I did notice was a small dent in the middle of the brass case on a lot of the shells.. I'm guessing that it must be the result of the extraction process...
I played with 2 yesterday at a gun store, But came home with another springfield. Both remmy's had sloppy triggers and loose slide compared to the springer. But the day before we picked up a old remington Rand, it felt better then the R1.
I just picked up one yesterday, my first 1911, I doubt it will be my last. Seems very tight and can't wait to get out and shoot.
