Never really had the need to ... That's why it's a 1911. I would pick up an XDM .45 if I wanted higher capacity in a .45 ....

    I do

I run a stock, series 80 Colt for a carry gun. Most of my carry mags are Chip McC 8 rounders and I top off when doing "administrative loading" every day.

Most of my other mags are various mil spec style 7 rounders... never have had a problem with any of them in the Colt.

Cocked and Locked. Condition One. Never a problem and the only way to carry a 1911.

I've never encountered a second round jam and I would suspect a magazine problem if you continually experience this problem. Get a decent magazine and try it again.

I've never had a problem with topping off with any of the semiautos I've owned.

Back in the day, M16 30round mags were curved, cheaply made by the lowest bidder. For best functioning we downloaded by 2. When the word gets out that if its good enough for Uncle Sam then its good enough for me, everybody does it. I bet they download all the mags.
When the FBI chooses, right or wrong, everybody listens.
Like everyone has said already, in a properly set up, RELIABLE 1911, there is no need to download. On duty or off I don't.

Done this without any trouble using Federal Hdyroshocks. When I shoot at the range this is how I carry the gun in so I know it works all the time.

I load my Custom II with Kimber Tac Mags 8+1, never an issue, and My Ultra II with Kimber tac mags 7+1 without issue.
    1911's the original perfection.

    Hello,

I hope that niemi24s doesn't mine me using his picture. Here is most of the reason that the second round in a 1911 magazine causes problems on some pistols.
