My belief is as a point of self defense the topped off situation is the best for the rapid deployment of "lethal" force in a sure of it, capacity for response. Handling of the firearm is another matter of safety first and MT chamber.

Brown is good on a UPS truck.
I've always put one in the pipe with a full Mag both at the range and carry. I practice as if I'm carrying and have had no problems.
Yes, as I feel that the only way to carry a 1911 is Condition One. Never had an issue.
"Americans look at the Constitution and Bill of Rights as protectors of our liberties; the Left/Progressives look at them as obstacles to overcome"
Do you "top off" your carry gun?
Absolutely. My carry pieces are not double stack, so I take advantage of every bit of capacity.
Is that thing loaded?
No. Seven rounds in the pistol, two mags on the off side. If that does not solve my problem, then I shoulda stayed in bed that day.
I do not. I think it is asking for problems. Some pistols will tolerate it, some will not. I have 2 SA micro-compacts and neither will feed the second round when topped off (stovepipe). I think it has to do with the short travel distance of the slide, but I am no gunsmith. They do not particularly care for HP's, either.
I have a Colt Model 70, which does not seem to mind topping off, but I think it would feed rocks and small mammals. I have heard so many discussions of this issue, pro and con, but I have heard enough con to make me not do it.
When I feel a real need for more rounds, I just pack my BHP.
I carry a double stack pistol and I do carry topped off. Why not? That's one more round ready if needed.
