    New WE 1911 Commander Pics

Just got it today and thought I'd doll it up a bit with some genuwiine grips.
The slide isn't quite to Commander scale, but it'll work.

    Ya think?

    more later...

btw: how long am I supposed to gas up the single stack mag? Can they be overcharged by canned gas?

Never owned an Asoft gun before.

    That's not a Commander!!!

No, you can't overfill the mag with gas. Just remember that you need to hold the mag upside down, with the gas canister on top. Fill it until the gas starts coming out of the filling nozzle.

That's a great looking Govt. length WE 1911... not sure if the laynard loop is correct, strictly speaking, but who cares?

    Is it all metal (frame/slide/barrel)?

Some airsoft sites recommend loading the magazine with 2-3 short squirts of gas, a couple of seconds each. I can't say I've noticed a difference, doing it this way or with a single, long squirt - ALWAYS with magazine and gas canister upside down.

If the magazine doesn't have a rubber O-ring around the filling nozzle, you may have a lot of gas escaping while you fill up. I use a plastic adapter, intended (and sold with) a canister of butane gas for lighters (don't use such gas in your pistol!). Some members have disassembled old disposable lighters, to take a suitable O-ring and place it around the magazine's filling nozzle. I haven't tried that (I don't smoke, not many lighters in the house), but judging by how nicely my O-ring - equipped airsoft mags load, I have to say it sounds like a good idea.

Of course, if you eventually buy a converter for propane gas canisters (like John and many others here have done), you won't need any of the above, since the filling nozzle in these converters is plastic. If you don't know this already, Green Gas is Propane, with a little bit of silicon oil added, for lubrication. So a propane canister, with a few drops of silicon oil every few magazine loads, is a much cheaper way to keep your airsoft pistol running.

The forum has a lot of information on this, and pretty much any other airsoft issues.

Yep, it doesn't appear to be a Commander, and when I notified Evike they seemed confused and offered to take it back. It's meets all the advertised spec's but isn't the length show in the ad pic.

I decided to keep it and practice with it anyway.

Thanks for the info on charging it.

I've been reading for two days, but I guessed I missed the specifics.

    Sure shoots well.

One other Q: I've read that one should only lube the external action (slide) with silicon based lube. If I'm conservative with it, can I apply a little Slide Glide to the rails?

    thnx again

Others might chime in to say otherwise, and I admit my experience with airsofts isn't very extensive, but I've used only silicon-based oil on my airsofts, mostly in aerosol format, with good results.

One other thing about those magazines: always keep them under pressure. They don't need to be full of gas, but they shouldn't be left empty for long.

Thanks, that's a bit of info I was able to find, so late last night (shot it until 11pm) I released the gas from the mag's and added just a bit before I stored them.

I'm going to talk to Evike again today to determine if the even have any Commander-size WE's available.

    Might just buy another one.

How much did this go for, if you don't mind me asking?

I usually fill my mags completely before storing them. So far, none have had any problems with their seals, and had plenty of gas in them even after 2-3 months, hiding in the closet...

    $99

If they do have a Commander-size 1911 I'll buy another and just sell this one to someone I work with.

    Update:

Finally got a hold of someone at Evike that could pour peas out of a boot.

They found the correct Commander on the shelf but with the wrong part on the inventory sign.

    Bought it.

Sold the one above to a guy at work so I'm $20 out of pocket, but will have the gun I wanted to begin with.

I've already had $20 worth of fun with it.

Today at lunch I shot a 2" group at 36 feet.

Looks like I'm in the airsoft ether now.
