    Brinell Question

I have just started reloading for my .45 1911 and am looking for a good home defense load using lead bullets. Would a brinell of 12 or 18 be better for a home defense bullet?

I am looking at 200 gr but would a SWC or RN be better?

Does anyone have a good recipe for this using Unique?

    Thanks!

IMHO you would be much better off with a commercially loaded JHP for SD. At 12 or 18 BHN you probably won't see any expansion at 45acp velocities, although the 12 would be the better bet. As far as loads go we need more info about the particular bullets. In my experience Unique isn't a bad choice for high velocity loads in the 45auto.
