    A slightly different airsoft...

This item may be stretching the definition of what goes in this forum area...

    Have a look at this:

There's also this one, if you want something more modern.

They're both by Umarex. I haven't been able to find many details about them yet - the Tiger is 1:16 scale, which is BIG, the other is 1:24, which isn't too small, either. And yes, they're remote controlled!

Thoughts?!? Do we have any scale-modelling fans here?

EDIT: here it is on the Umarex site, with some more information:

Actually I could see buying one for my grandson who is three and testing it before I give it to him when he is old enough.

The Umarex link above doesn't work anymore, but this does:

Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

I have the Leopard II remote controlled tank which looks exactly like pictured but not UMAREX branded. Its a great little toy. Comes with rechargeable batteries including charger (the batteries are actually just plain AA NiCads that were soldered together and shrink wrapped). Loads of fun, since this thing is fully controllable. The turret revolves to almost a full 360. Gun barrel elevation can be controlled and it fires Airsoft BBs with range of 20 feet (there is also a safety switch you can activate to prevent firing in case you dont want the kids to take out an eye). Just a word of caution, the treads are made of rubber and they can wear out quickly if used on the pavement. I suggest keeping it on the turf or carpet which is more fun since each wheel has its own independent suspension.
