When I started we were only authorized to carry the Sig 229. Then they changed the policy and we could carry a Glock 22, 23, or 27. I switched to a Glock because I hate the double/single actions on Sigs. Although not a single action, the Glock does have one consistent trigger pull, which I preferred to the Sig. Then finally someone saw the light and they realized that we should be able to carry any reputable firearm in .40 or .45.
I carried a Kimber Ultra CDP, then a Kimber Custom CDP. I diverted for a short time and carried a Sig Carry Nitron 1911 for a short time. Currently I carry a Kimber Custom TLE/RL with a Surefire X300. But, I have an Ed Brown Special Forces Carry on order. I ordered it with the light rail, so when it arrives I will carry it with an X300 as well.
My friends at work are also teasing me about carrying a $2500 gun on duty, and they all think I'm crazy. I've scrapped, saved, and coveted an Ed Brown for years now, and have finally made it. I believe they're the best, and why wouldn't I carry what I consider the best? My life may depend on it, I'm pretty sure that is worth $2500 to me.
