Great review. I recently received a belt, mag pouch and IWB holster. At least as good as any other leather I've tried. As mentioned, the holster took a bit of break-in. I used the "plastic bag" method, as well. I also applied Renaissance wax to the bag. The mag pouches were not quite as tight.

    Nice job, Hawk!

I used to use regular belts and they were useless. Garrison belts look good with uniform pants but not regular slacks. I've been ordering custom belts and holsters since reading about how much better they are on the forums here and they are in fact, better.

The Night Hawk holsters look good.

To chew up a credit amount that I had with Nighthawk Custom, I got one of their older version beltslide holsters. I was very pleased to find that it was exceptionally well done, and fit my Talon II (or, for that matter, probably any of the Nighthawk 1911s) perfectly. Although my usual preference for my Talon II is a Blade-Tech IWB, for OWB carry the Nighthawk Beltslide is an excellent choice-the newer beltslide is a bit more elaborate (and priced accordingly; it basically uses the tunnel system discused for threading of the belt).

For belts, my preferences run to 5.11 (a leather/laminate combination, and at about $35, a superb buy in my book; I've used two of them for over a year), Wilderness 5-Stitch (in various widths/buckle configurations-their inherent quality and infinite adjustability are strong plusses), Kramer horsehide (excelllent initially, but tend to crack and deteriorate over time), and Galco leather.

For my magazine pouches, my usual preferences are towards several of The Wilderness' excellent products, but I've also been quite satisfied with some by Blade-Tech, Bianchi, and Matt DelFatti.

    Best, Jon
