    Question US Norinco Research

I've asked this elsewhere but I'll ask it here too.

For those in the US of A: I'd like to know what the importer's marks are on your Norinco, the location of the marks, the serial number (in the 123,XXX format), finish (blue, Parkerized(tm) or nickled), type of MSH (with or with out lanyard loop) and size (Government or Commander(tm)).

    Possible importers:

    Safari Sports Incorporated or S. S. I.
    China Sports Incorporated or C. S. I.
    Both located in Ontario, California

There was one importer out of the New England area that I forget right now.
And a possible importer out of Texas that I have to confirm.

If you have answered before, no need to do so now.

    Thanks.
If it ain't metal, single stack and single action; it ain't a 1911 no matter what it looks like.

Jim, honest to goodness I really did glimpse one with "B-West, Tucson Az" writing on it. Why I didn't go back and buy it--or at least write down the serial number--is beyond me. Must've really been off my game that day, sorry!

    Research Response

Hi, you replied to my intro regarding Norinco research.

    Here you go:

    Norinco goverment
    Blue
Model info on slide (left side)
Import info on frame C.S.I. (left side)
Serial number on frame only 414,XXX (right side)
    With lanyard
    Not sure MSH stands for?

    Dose this cover it?
    Nick

Serial Number: 301XXX (right side of frame and slide)
    Finish: Blue
    MSH: None
    Lanyard: Present
    Size: Government

Hope this helps with the research.

    Hi Jim.

Purchased new (in 1995 or so), S.S.I., Commander, blued, arched MSH (no lanyard), 6-digit serial number on right side of both slide and frame (the barrel has the serial number engraved in it FREEHAND...?). Love the red steel extractor and recoil spring.

    Hope this helps.

    Import Marks

I've got 3 Norc's, so starting with my primary:

Blued: I.A.C. Billerica MA. Serial # 516xxx the importer engraving is on the bottom of the frame in front of the trigger guard.

Blued : C.S.I. ONT. CA. Serial # 521xxx Standard engraving left side/right side.

Nickel: C.S.I. ONT. CA. Serial # 523xxx Standard engraving left side/right side.

Looks like I got a close batch even though they were all purchased quite seperately! I have not found another with the IAC stamp though, anyone got info on that?

    Stumpie

P.S. All government models with lanyard loop at the bottom by the clip.
