We have a lot of old codgers on this site (including myself) who stop and scratch what hair they have left on top of their heads when they read the text message lingo.
One of the long time favorites among target shooters is the Hensley and Gibbs (out of business) #68 style 200 gr. SWC bullet. Aside from that which bullet you choose depends on what you're doing and what you want.
Each match requires you fire 90 rounds. The recoil difference between 200 gr and 230 gr ammo adds up. I shoot 200 gr loads at about 725 fps on the fifty yard targets and 185 gr loads at about 750 fps on the twenty five yard targets.
I have lots of answers - I just don't know which questions they go with.
With a lighter bullet you can reduce the powder charge and reduce muzzle rise. With lesser muzzle rise you can get back on target a little faster, good for timed matches.
While the Federal Match load has been the "gold" standard for a long time, Atlanta Arms is now loading a competitive round. Their Match AMU is loaded with the Nosler 185 JHP and is the round most likely to be used by U.S. military teams. http://www.atlantaarmsandammo.com/products.htmlOriginally Posted by Joni Lynn

Thanks, I may look into that.
