    Self Defence Ammo

I know this has been beaten to death but I narrowed my decision to either using .45 230 grn Federal HST, +P or Hydro-shok. What is the overall take on this from all forums and ballistics that you have read. Thanks

Use the HST, I have used HST with great results. Haven't had a single issue with it yet, and was impressed by the mushrooming even into bullet proof vests (shot my buddies old vest and it still mushroomed some). HST stands for Hydro shock two, so it is a better hydro shock. I have also heard of lawsuits over hydro shock, which is why I wasn't allowed to carry hydro shock at one security company I worked for. I could carry HST ammo and it performs better than the outdated Hydro shocks. If you really want the extra power of the HST+P go with that, otherwise the standard HST should work just fine for you.

+1 on the HST. The +P is relatively mild, so the extra performance is worth it, IMHO.
