Whats a cell phone ?? Used to call a bail bondsman ??
Every now and then I think about selling this Colt, because I don`t think I`ll ever shoot it, but the old arthritis in my hands is getting worst, 9mm might be good..As far as a factory letter goes, I think I`ll let my kids worry about that when they split up my collection, and save the 300 bucks for my next purchase..Thank you all for your advice..

Well, with our laws, I can't afford to have any guns I do not fire. So, I would never own such a pistol. But I have to admit, it has a certain beauty.

I have a Colt McCormick Factory Racer unfired and ss number 100 out of 500 total made. I would like some history on date made (year) and what was done by McCormick. One other question worth unfired and fired?

Beautiful pistols. I love engraved guns. I do shoot them a little, though, as they are for my enjoyment. I only collect to have different shooting experiences not to make money.

For the grand kids, however, don't forget to save receipts, pictures of you with the gun or, better yet, shooting the gun. I also keep a log of dates, my shooting experiences, etc. Factory letters are only a starting point. I have seen old guns with a story worth a lot more than just the gun by itself.

I don`t think the Colt letter is worth $300.00
    Gunny,

I'm with you. To each his own but $300 or even $100 is a lot for a letter. Heck, for $300 I'd expect they would assign me a man to do around with me and make a speech about the gun's history. But that's just me.

MY wife has been an arms engraver for 28 years. and the resale of her guns and knives has been quite impressive. She was the main engraver for gerber knives for a lot of years.
