Went to the range again today. Shot 200 rounds of Win Clean 115 grain BEB through the 9mm - all three mags functioned perfectly. Shot 150 rounds Speer Lawman 230 grain through the Government model 45 and had three FTE's - 2 on round 5 and 1 on round 4. Happened with two of the three mags.

The problem with the 45 must be mag related. The same pistol has been flawless with a variety of ammo and with the Wilson 47 D's that have the Tripp seven round upgrade kit and with the Checkmate 7 round mags.

I'll try again and see of it resolves...

Thumbs up Range test at a USPSA match.

I kept the Tripp in the #1 position so it was always the first mag grabbed on a reload. Except for one stage where everything started on a barrell and I just grabbed quick as I could. That means 4 or 5 uses in the match, and each time it got dropped in the dirt, slightly brushed off, and loaded up again. I'm a new shooter so score isn't my real goal here.

Gun is my Sistema project. Had 4-6 failures to slide lock and one jamb on feed. However, *none* of the failures were specific to the Tripp. For performance and reliability I'd have to give the Tripp a big Thumbs up!

The second thing to consider is the feel of the magazine. It loads easily. The magazine floorplate lip is solid and significant enough to allow a firm grip when active. I also like the follower design's habit of not folding or bending over if I'm doing dry-relaods. Another big Thumb's up!

I would still like to see some options on the floor plate's ability to close the gap with the frame. Also, the top section of the floorplate front lip might worry me if the gap is close with such a squared off lip--my Sig bites my pinkie finger everytime I do a fast reload! Cosmetic and personal; no judgement.

Overall I'd have to say this is a good magazine, and my first pick for the upcoming Open gun build. Now all we need to do is arrange a group buy!

Thumbs up Range test at IDPA match

Shot a classifier match and kept the Tripp as the first mag in. No instance of failure, jam, or fail to slide lock. Still pleased as punch with them.

My Tripps are all (45 and 9mm) performing well.

My Tripps have performed flawlessly (as have the mags with tripp internal upgrades).

I just ordered another yesterday, this time the 7 rnd with removable base plate and the metal baseplate, just like my 8 rnd Cobramag's.

    1911Tuner,

I have some of the Tripp magazines for testing, both the 7 and the 8 round variants. The feed lips look almost like a wadcuuter style to me. Do these magazines give up the controlled feed principle???...Robert

I've been using tripp mags for the last year and a half in both uspsa and Idpa competition.

Probably have 7,000 plus on the six that I have and I havent had a single failure of anykind since using them.

In my opinion they are much better than the Chip McCormick mags and wilsons.

The CM mags follower would occasionaly ride over the slide stop and the wilsons have a bad habit of having the follower poping out of the magtube partially when dropped on a hard surface such as concrete.

Everyone I have talked to has had a very positive experience with them...I know I wont be buying an other brand.

I've dropped them in loose sand and mud and had them buried without enough time to take them apart and clean between stages. Loaded them right back up and ran 'em again. No problems.

almost all reloads with probably 1,000 factory FMJ.

Reloads are usually 200gn RNFP or SWC.

A few hundred 200 and 230 grain JHP's as well.
