    Guidelines for Product Tests

These forums were created for members to post their own Products Tests.

In order to post a new Product Test here, go to the Product Tests by Members Forum and select the sub-forum in which your test should go. After you enter the selected sub-forum, click on the "New Article" button. A new page will open, where you should enter the Title of your test, a byline and a Synopsis.

The title of your article should start with the name of the manufacturer of the product you are testing. Let's say for example, that you are testing Caspian's Pocketsmith. The first word of your title, should be "Caspian". The second word should be the model name. If you are testing a Comabt Commander made by Colt, the title should be "Colt Combat Commander". Then you can add other details, which uniquely identify the product you are testing.

In the byline, you can enter what this product is used for (for example: "A firearms lubricant").

In the synopsis, you may enter a text (up to 300 characters) which is an abbreviation (or synopsis) of your test.

Next to the Byline, you will notice a button saying "image". Click on this button and select one of the images that will be shown in the small window that will open. This image you select, will be used on the top of your article, as well as in the Articles List, in front of your product test.

Then, move your cursor to the Message area and start typing your test. If you want to split your test in more than one pages, you may use the word BREAK in square brackets, to create a page break.

If you want to add pictures in your test (a test without pictures, is as interesting as watching paint dry), the standard picture instructions apply (read the Forums FAQ page for more details). In other words, your pictures should be hosted in a picture-hosting server. Please note that you should leave those pictures there, as long as your product test is shown in these pages. If for some reason those pictures are no longer available, your product test will be deleted. In a worst case scenario, if you have no other place to store those pictures, please PM me, to see what we can arrange.

As is expected, the standard Forum Rules apply for this forum as well, so please respect them.

As far as your test contents are concerned, please do not post simple range reports here. A couple of pictures of your gun and two more of shot targets, do not qualify your post as a product test. Start with a good description of what you are testing, if you have modified it in any way, please say so, and show us pictures. Report on what you particularly liked and disliked. What would you change in the future. Try to be as objective as possible. I am sure all of you have read articles in a magazine, that's what we are looking for here.

If the need arises, a special Article Forum for range reports could be created, but for the time being, this is not what you should post in these forums.

Finally, as you will see, members can post comments about your test. They can also "rate" your article, using the right-hand column tools. I want to encourage members to rate the tests they see here, so that the quality keeps improving.

If you have a comment about these forums, you may use the "Comment" button below, to submit them here.
