    Llama VII "Extra" ammunition question

I have a Llama "Extra" on the way - early 1930's by the serial number. I plan on shooting it some, and do reload. The question becomes ammo. By the "9mm/38" markings it was meant for 9mm Largo but marketed as 38 ACP can be shot in it. I have delved through the differences in the cartridges. I see 38 Largo cases are available (Midway and Brownell's both have them in stock) - but dies are all but non-existent (unless I want to spend as much on a set of dies as the gun). The consensus I saw was to use 38 Super dies to load the Largo cases with. My plan is to do just that to get some good shootable ammo. I did see that people had made 38 ACP and 9mm Largo/Steyr/Bayard from .223 cases - anyone here tried their hand at that? Any advice for me in my new endeavor is appreciated.

This article says 38 Super dies work with 9mm Largo. You might look on eBay or Gunbroker for 9mm Largo dies.

Or load .38 ACP in .38 Super dies.
You might could load 9mm Largo in 9mm P dies.

Cutting down .223 for Largo would give you somewhat undersize cases after a good bit of work.

But the various long 9s are very similar; I once read a guy to say he loaded 9mm Steyr in 9mm Largo brass even though that was a straight case round in tapered brass.

.38 ACP and .38 Super brass is/are identical. .38 Super is, for all purposes, .38 ACP +P.

Which is why ALL .38 Super is marked +P -- I don't think you'll ever see any .38 Super that's not designated as +P.

I admit to being a bit surprised by the notion of using ,.38 ACP / .38 Super dies to load 9mm Largo. The case dimensions aren't the same, other than the case length.
