First post: looking for info on magazines

I just read through the whole magazine identification sticky and I believe I was able to figure out most of my mags.

I have a couple that I could use guidance on:

1 has a stainless follower that says “Pat. Pending Stainless Steel Laka USA”

Next is 2 that I believe are fake: marked colt 45 auto on the baseplates, rounded followers, drain holes, and the witness holes seem off

Can someone explain what the deal is with attaching pictures? The first one worked but I keep getting error messages now… been trying to attach photos for 20 minutes

Last two I have questions about: baseplates marked COLT.45 AUTO. They have blued bodies and parkerized bases, the park runs about 1/4” up the body on one, 1/8” up the body on the other. They both have standard Gi followers. One has a weld seam running up the spine. The fonts are slightly different between the two.

I’ll add pictures once I can figure out the secret

LAKA Tool and Stamping of Westbury, NY follower.
LAKA made USGI contract magazines in the 1970s. Post #88 in the ID sticky.

Typical fake Colt magazines. You noted the discrepancies from genuine Colt magazines. Though 1970s+ genuine Colt magazines also have drainholes. Often found with USGI style baseplate nomenclature and cage code 30745 for Manson Rust, who never actually made magazines.

Obvious weld seam, definite frosting from sandblasting, deep round font indicate Metalform manufacture. Likely made before multiple contractors required the addition of the M code to the upper right hand corner of the baseplate to distinguish Metalform from CheckMate (C), Okay (O), Green (G).

I've observed that slightly oval font on several magazines with Jay Scott packaging.

Thanks for the breakdown, I must have missed the post on that laka marked one.

figured the second 2 were games.

and in your opinion: are both of the last two mags metalforms? The difference in font, and the lack of pronounced rear seam made me question if they were made by the same company or at the same time

The magazine without seam I believe is Jay Scott. I don't know if Jay Scott actually made magazines or only marketed them.
