1944 Colt 1911a1 question about parts finish

    Hello ,
I have a few 1911’a and have had them for many years . I just recently picked up a Colt 1944 1911a1 in the serial range of 1677xxx. It is one of the best examples of Colts I’ve seen in a while. It’s in about 95% condition showing wear at the muzzle and lightened color at the sharp lines of the prominent areas . My question is about the parts colors , specifically the thumb and grip safety , magazine release , slide stop and hammer . They all seem to have a darker color to them almost black, compared to the grey/green of the frame and slide . This pistol also does not have a wide spur hammer and I believe that to ce correct for the range . After researching other photos and examples , it seems this pistol isn’t special , and I’ve seen it on other examples of 1944 pistols . What exactly am I seeing ? Is it a different finish ? Where the parts supplied by another manufacturer and coated at a different facility and it shows up in tone ? Please advise . I haven’t been on this sight in quite some time , is Johnny Peppers still around ? Thank you

Small parts often different color/shade than the frame/slide, usually darker. Frame and slide were required to "match" in finish but not small parts. When the transition occurred from blueing to parkerizing heat blued small parts were allowed to use up old stock.
