Good Evening everybody.

I've been here for awhile and have posted some of my experience with the Worthawg and other subcompact double stack .45s.

I like subcompact double stacked .45s. I have two Llama Minimax Subcompacts and the new RIA 3.10 in addition to the Para.

I have a Worthawg that I bought used, turns out it had a cracked frame. Purchased another frame from Sarco. I have to say I didn't like the two tone look of the Worthawg and wanted an all black (what's called the Night Hawg). As I was swapping out components of the old Worthawg with the new frame, stuff came up.

Things like the grip safety, the thumb safety, and the MSH and the hammer. I know Sarco and Numrich have parts.

I just purchased another Worthawg frame from Sarco. I already have the slide and barrel, plus a bunch of parts additional minor parts. What I would like to know, who makes Worthawg specific parts. I've talked to Smith & Alexander about parts, specifically the grip safety and MSH. I've found some stuff on Ebay that I'm not sure about. EGW has parts that I intend to use for the recoil system.

What I'm looking for is experience on any of the aftermarket grip safeties and the mainsprings housings. Everything else is covered. The grip safety and the sear safety are the only two parts specific to the Worhtwawg and I have the sear spring covered.

Sarco used to have the P10/Warthog grip safeties and mainspring housings. If they no longer have the MSHs, you may be able to take a polymer MSH for an Officers ACP and carefully file it down to the length needed for a Warthog. I did this many years ago to make a MSH for a mongrel frame I bought (from Sarco) that turned out to be mid-sized, between a Government size and an Officers ACP. Once I had the MSH suitably modified, I then had to shorten the mainspring housing one coil at a time until I had eliminated coil bind.

I don't know of any good way to shorten a standard grip safety to the shorter length for a Warthog. Basically, you'll juust have to file it down. The tricky part will be to retain a small tab (or lip) at the bottom to engage the top of the MSH.

The thumb safety should not be different from any other 1911, nor should the hammer. The hammer strut will probably need to be shortened.

The Warthog (actually, the one in the photo is a P10/45) is the little guy, third from the left.

You could also try Numrich to see if they have any of the parts you need. Along with Sarco, Numrich also bought a lot of the old Para parts when Remington was liquidating them.
