Just bought a 1943 Ithaca 1911A1 from Pre98. 872xxx serial number. Was sold as “completely correct.” It came with a unmarked magazine with a drain hole. It doesn’t fit smoothly into the gun. First question is are any magazines with a drain hole correct for a WW2 1911A1? Secondly ,what magazine should this gun have had from the factory? Thank in advance!

Welcome to the forum.
Drain holes appeared in the 1970s. The pistol shipped with magazines marked L (MS Little), R (Ridson) or S (Scovil) stamped on top of the magazine baseplate where it protrudes from the front of the magazine.
