    Grooved Main Spring housing

I was sorting through my M 1911 parts box (50) year accumulation and found a flat mainspring housing with a single v groove machined up the back.
it has a lanyard loop but no other markings.

My question is, could this be a mainspring housing grooved to accept a cavalry shoulder stock? Looked all over the internet, but couldn't find anything to help me identify it.

I am sorry that I am not including any photos, but my grand daughter is not available at the moment.

Any help identifying this would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum. The military experimented with stocked 1911 pistols but none generally issued. At various times private companies have sold stock kits.
