Sight Help with 1911A1 Remington Rand

About eight years ago I bought a 1911A1 Rem Rand in a gun store. It had been re-parkerized but had all the correct stampings, and looked in good shape. The only issue I saw was that someone had cut a dovetail into the top of the slide for aftermarket front sights. I'm sure that's a common issue for the old guns. I'd like to return the gun to a factory appearance and pass the gun to my children. You can get original rear sights, that's not a problem. But it appears the closest I could find in appearance for the front was a kensite, below:

I'm not sure of what height sight to get, or whether flat base or contoured base. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Dang thing wont let me post pics....

    Welcome to the forum.

Dovetails come different depths, widths at the bottom and angles. Try to determine that and ask Kensight if their sight fits your dovetail and which height most closely matches the original configuration. The contoured base will most closely match the contour of your slide. Their sight perhaps also too wide for your rear sight but that could be altered. Good luck.

Here's a copy of the Ordnance Department blueprint for the front sight. Looks like you want a height of 0.102" above the top of the slide -- if the rear sight is the same height as the original.
