    Another Newbe ...

An old man, new to the forum .. from West Tennessee, I piddle in woodworking, along with playing with a few guns and developing a few loads .. I got into 38Super a couple of years ago and now in the process of manipulating a 9mm Valor into a 9x23. Actually, researching that conversion is how I ended up here ..

Tinkering is good. Once you get too old to play "physical" sports, tuning up the toys becomes a more attractive hobby.

    Converting a 9x19 to 9x23 shouldn't require anything more than a barrel, a recoil spring, and a magazine -- I think.

Yeah Hawkmoon, pretty much so .. the way I load, I'm respringing both my 38S & 9x23 and installing flat firing pin stops to help in slowing recoil. I started loading the 9x23 @ the same OAL as 38S to utilize my existing 38S mags.

SAAMI specs for the 9x23 cover a wider range of overall lengths than either .38 Super or .45 ACP. There's no harm in loading both .38 Super and 9x23 to the same length, but it sort of raises the question of why load two cartridges that are pretty much the same caliber to the same length.
