Just picked up a sweet Remington R1S

I picked up a stainless R1 today that came with a bullldog holster. I field-stripped it and there is very little wear which supports what the guy who sold it to me said.

I needed another pistol like I need a hole in the head, but the money was right and I have always liked the Remingtons anyway so I bought it.

I sold my last Remington-Rand twenty years ago and even though this is nowhere in the same ball park as my 1940s Rands, I was attracted to it because it was a Remington and retained the old styling. This gun is tight, but smooth with a nice trigger pull and also has the 3 dot sights.

Different "Remington," though. Remington Rand, who made 1911s during WW2, was a typewriter company before and after the war. That company was unrelated to the Remington Arms (or Remington UMC) company that historically made firearms and ammunition.

This pistol was made by the Remington with the history of firearms manufacturing.

Thanks for the info. I had known that at some point in the far, far past, but I had totally forgotten it. Nevertheless, Remington still looks good on the slide.
