    Unmarked Checkmate Magazine?

I'll try to post pictures later tonight.

I just bought 2 mags from a reputable seller on eBay, that from the pictures, appeared to possibly be blued unmarked Colts and with baseplate pins.

However, upon receiving them, they are not pinned, but welded floorplates. The welds are very precise, and wear on the blued finish made them look like pins.

One magazine appears to be a seamless extruded body, while the other magazine has a welded seam in the back, visible when the magazine was disassembled, and has a drain hole. Aside from being unmarked, it looks like a 1980's vintage Colt factory magazine or USGI contract magazine.

Both have what appear to be USGI feed lips, springs, and followers.

    Thanks for looking.

The one on the left in the last photo looks to me like wadcutter feed lips, not USGI.

I have some wadcutter mags, so maybe hybrid feed lips instead.

All Check-mate magazines I've observed have the Check-mate logo or the C on Colt magazines.

I don't think so. In a hybrid, the rear portion of the feed lips are tapered. The one in your photo appears to have the edges of the lips parallel at the rear.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up returning them, because the one with the worst finish and no hole was cracked on the back near the feed lips, that was visible when I loaded it. I thought about keeping the other one, that was like an unmarked Checkmate, but it was difficult to insert when loaded with ammunition and also difficult to remove when empty. This was the same result on 4 different pistols. Oh well.

Unmarked magazines, unless USGI, usually a disappointment.

Well, I took a chance, because like the photos show, I thought at least one had a pinned floorplate.

And unmarked "USGI" magazines are too often cheap Chinese clones.
