    Remington Rand grips question

Just received my CMP 1911a1. It has a Remington Rand frame made in September 1944. It seems to have replacement grips. Anyone know if the original grips were plastic or wood? Thanks so much. THB

Ah, the miracle of Google! "Remington Rand, US&S and Ithaca grips.
