An old lady friend of mine had her husband pass away. I got this .45 Auto-Ordnance 1911 sn: AOC46xxx (West Hurley) from her. Plain Jane 1911. Looks to not have even been shot.
Hopefully I'll have time in a few days to shoot it but..
When were they made?
I've heard tails of them being of soft metal. Is this true?
This one is pure GI. Wide spur hammer, small grip safety, parkerized, Grips have Auto-Ordnance logo on the grips. Small ejection port (like a GI .45.)
Any help would be appreciated.

It seems your best option is to call Kahr, they bought out AO in 1999. I don't know if they have Numrich records from before then.

Got it today... was dry as a bone.. lubed it. Now it cycles fine at home and I will shoot it tomorrow but... the barrel has a ring on the inside. Not a bulge but a score that goes in a circle!!! it may or may not affect accuracy.
Otherwise the gun is fine. Must have never been shot more than one mag out of it (maybe it jammed every shot... shoots in a circle like the show "Wanted"... I dunno.)
Anyway, tomorrow the range.

AO mag was pitiful... spewed rounds all over the place but... with just 5 rounds in the mag the gun functioned perfect and shot dead on with Remington 230 factory FMJ. Next outing I'll use proven mags that fit my other 1911s...
Hey.. it's not a bad gun at all.

I had a Ruger 1911 .45 stainless mag and a Springfield Amory mag I knew worked in my Kimber .45 this time!!
Using ball ammo... that gun just shot and shot and shot using those Ruger mags.
Sights dead on. Amazing... I guess John Moses Browning's design IS perfect.
