Hi all. Just received an apparent Checkmate gov't contract mag from SARCO, and am getting different opinions on ARFCOM if it's a legit gov't contract or a forgery.

Ok, there's the floorplate markings, indicating Rock Island Arsenal, 7 rnd 1911 magazine, manufacturer CheckMate. Let's see if I can get more pics in the next post.

I have written them, but it's the weekend. I figured someone here would know, be able to tell me which week this mag shipped to Rock Island, have pictures of the original paper wrapper it came in - or tell me that CheckMate never made such a terrible magazine w/ such obvious weak welds and it was made in Chinese People's Army Factory #87...
ETA: I totally didn't join & post these pics in order to sneak a pic of a HiPoint into a 1911 forum...

I know that Check-Mate has made magazines for the U.S. government, but I don't know if they have made 1911 magazines for the U.S. government. Since they have made magazines, they have a Cage code - and I'm afraid I don't know what their code is.

1M291 - just search that # & it pops up as CheckMate. I've emailed em. W/ your giant referenced magazine thread here, I thought someone might know one way t'other. All the #s on the baseplate line up - have one guy saying it's clearly a GI mag, another that it's a fake that has been selling at gunshows for years. If it's a fake, it looks like a decent fake.

Welcome to the forum.
I believe you have a genuine Checkmate USGI magazine. The posts in the magazine research sticky that show packaging from 1978 through 1993 contain Checkmate magazines.
Does your magazine have a drainhole in the front just above the magazine toe?

The Chinese fakes I've seen at gun shows were generally marked "COLT" on the floorplate.
The really poor Chinese mags have over-sized witness holes that are located in the wrong positions.

Does not appear to have a drainhole, just very small gaps btwn the toe of the baseplate & the body. Let me get some caffeine in me & I'll get a pic of that area.
