Looking for Great GrandFather’s service 1911

    Hello to everyone

My greatGrandfather was an Army Officer during WW2 in the pacific theater . Is there any way that I could track down his service pistol and bring it home to the family ? Any websites ? Govt agencies I could contact? Or any information about my great grandfather I should provide to make it easier to track it down ?

    Welcome to the forum.

Do you know the serial number of the pistol?

Probably not. There was no permanent record of small arms issue. Even if you knew the serial number, it would be a one in two million shot to find it and find the owner willing to sell it.

If you want to lay out the money, you could buy a Just Like Grandpa's Gun but that is all I can think of.
