    3-point bind 101 question

As I type this I think I already know the answer. But, after working on various builds over the past 3 years. Sometimes, I get a little tired of mistakes.

Simply put, I have a 3 point bind when my ammo is 1.126 (.40 S&W) and flawless run with 1.11 ammo. Suffice to say I have to run with the factory ammo (1.126). To get the factory ammo to run, do I just continue to open the barrel feed ramp until it cycles 100%?

This may sound like an obvious question. But sometimes the learning process wears one done to the point that 'one more costly mistake' gets close to the camel's back straw. If this issue is resolved, I'm confident taking these builds for final finishing. It has been a long time working on these builds over the past several years and I'm so close to the finish line.

Other than OAL, what's the difference between these two types of ammunition?

Opening the barrel feed ramp removes case head support. The .40 S&W is a higher pressure round than the .45 ACP. Removing case head support is not recommended.

I'm going to close my query and here is why.

Two locally recommend gunsmiths took a look at my builds (I build two 2011's) and claimed the guns to function well. In both cases they teste with their own handloads. This morning I was taking measurements to post on this site when I noticed that the ramps had been tinkered incorrectly. I recall one of the GS asking if the barrels had been reamed to which my response was no as I did not have the tools no saw a concern as they both headspaced correctly.

What I noticed was that the ramps had been polished which is something to which I do not prescribe. I then noticed both ramps were off center. Which explained why yesterdays smoke test indicated rubbing to one side of the ramp when binding. The ramp has some damage to the lower right hand side.

I find this kind of damage/work to be intolerable and why I am sceptical of people who call themselves gunsmiths. Also note the scratches on the ramp! In the near future, I will get around to ordering to new barrels and will fit them more cautiously as anymore effort with these is chasing one's tail.
