    Checkmate CM45-7-S-H & CM45-8-S-H Pictures

Does anyone happen to have pictures of the followers for the following mags sold on the forum but no longer available ?

    7-rounders (CM45-7-S-H)

CheckMate 7-round magazines in stainless steel, with hybrid lips, welded, drilled and tapped floor plates and flat, dimpled followers.

    Tuner-mags (8-rounders, CM45-8-S-H)

CheckMate 8-round magazines in stainless steel, with hybrid lips, welded, drilled and tapped floor plates, Tuner-approved, skirted, dimpled followers and high-performance springs.

I'm in contact with the company to buy some but they are asking for a picture of the follower I'm speaking of. I haven't had 45 mags in over a decade and have nothing to photograph.

See post #1 in this thread for a photo of an original GI follower: https://forum.m1911.org/showthread.p...llower-Follies

That's what you want (but in stainless) for the CM45-7-S-H.

For the CM-45-8-S-H what you want is the "Patented Check-Mate skirted follower"

Here are a couple more pics of the followers Hawk references. Top is the GI. Bottom is the other one.

Here is the CM45-7-S-H mag https://www.topgunsupply.com/check-m...-magazine.html

Per the pictures at Top Gun Supply, the 7 rounder uses a GI follower and the 8 rounder uses the CheckMate Patented Follower (CMF).

I'm sure Steve can comment, but the 8 rounder is a flush mag, and may be difficult to seat with the slide forward.

CheckMate also offers 8 rounders with a longer tube that may be easier to seat. Those models with extended tubes have "EXT" in their product code.

The beginning of this thread explains the problem with stuffing 8 rounds into a magazine designed to hold 7: https://forum.m1911.org/showthread.p...ow-do-I-fix-it

I'm a huge fan boy of these magazines. The design allows feeding when other mags (Wilson, Tripp, McCormick, etc) fail. It's a great design but sometimes the manufacturing QC goes awry requiring some simple tweaking to correct. I've used mags from all the major manufacturers over the years but have replaced nearly all of them with these Check-Mate mags because of how well they feed.

I put in an order for a couple of these on Monday. It's great to see an endorsement from someone whose posts I've been seeing ever since I got into a 1911.

One curiosity for me and I'm not complaining: In a world of instant orders, mine is still "processing". Do you or anyone else know if CM batches small orders over time, i.e. my mags-to-be were a coil of steel and some wire when I clicked the button?

I'm somewhat intrigued and half believe master craftsmen have been toiling away all week to send me the best of the best.

As far as retailers go, CheckMate is a fine manufacturer. Retail is not their strong suit. I see lots of posts from folks waiting over a month for their orders from CheckMate.

I buy all my CheckMate mags from Top Gun Supply (they usually deliver within a couple of days) https://www.topgunsupply.com/magazin...heck-mate.html

Thunder Mountain Custom is another quality retailer that handles CheckMate mags https://www.shop.1911parts.com/Check...zines_c101.htm

ha, thanks JTQ. If it takes a month, I'll still be happy if they're half as good as I've read and try these sources next time. I kinda figured it was something along the lines of buying direct from the sort of place that's usually dealing with a few more zeroes in the quantity box.

Like JTQ said, Check-Mate hasn't really developed an Amazon style retail operation. They are dog slow shipping things out. Their focus is manufacturing.

Another place to get these Check-Mate magazines is Ed Brown. Check-Mate makes them with the EB logo on them.

When you finally receive the mags I strongly suggest you do a detailed disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and testing of each of them. Sometimes Check-Mate's QC slips a little. Whatever flaws may exist are easily remedied.

I noticed the other day, Wilson Combat has their "Service" mag back in stock. That is also a hybrid lipped CheckMate, and comes with an extra power spring.

Wilson is also another quick shipper.
