Hi, I am a retired US Navy Senior Chief who has a passion for the 1911. Before I went into the Navy I had no experience with firearms. I was trained on the 1911 pistol and through my career when assigned to security duties it was my sidearm of choice. I received further training while assigned to Subase Bangor Security department from the Marine Corps Cadre assigned to the department. They helped me to qualify Expert on the 1911. I remember those old 1911 pistols made by Springfield Armory, they actually rattled when you shook then Lol! The 1911 is a timeless design by that Genius JM Browning. I only own 4 pistols now, my real passion is long distance shooting with my Savage 10 and my FN FNAR. 2 out of 4 of my pistols are 1911's. My favorite is my Para Ordnance P14.45 Limited stainless, it was Canadian made and I tore it down and polished the internals and it is an excellent shooter. My other 1911 is the Rock Island BBR 3.10 which I use as my everyday carry gun. As you can see I do love the double stack 1911. The RIA BBR can use the old Para P10 13 round magazines with some dremel work on the mag catch on the magazine. I carry the BBR with the factory 10 round mag, I added a pinky extension that was made for the Para P10, minor dremel work required. I carry the 13 rounder as a backup mag. I also found out that with some modification grips from the Para P10 will fit on the RIA BBR. I have a set of faux stag grips made for the P10 on my BBR. Love to tinker with my 1911's.
