Lee Classic Turret Press

So, I finally upgraded to a Lee Classic Turret press. I just loaded a few rounds of .45 Auto with it. You can use it without the auto index feature, or you can constantly turn it a scoch each station. But, I haven't figured out how to adjust the press to make the auto index...well...auto index. The instructions say to hold the rod with a quarter inch wrench while turning the turret. Something seems to be missing.

Has anybody else had this problem?

Mine went out of time once, after many years of use. I didn't turn the turret to adjust it.

When you remove the turret, you'll see that the relationship of the turret to the autoindex rod is controlled by a square not on the top of the rod. This nut fits into a square recess in the underside of the turret. I used a pair of wrenches, one to hold the rod and one to turn the nut. It only takes a very tiny amount of movement to reset the timing.

Turning the turret does the same thing, but the nut is steel and the turrets are aluminum, so I preferred to use a tool rather than risk deforming the recess in the turret by using it as the tool.
