1945 Ithaca from CMP Round II

I received a very nice matching Ithaca frame and slide Field Grade this week from CMP. I’m really interested in the history that might be available. Is there anyway to figure out where the gun was shipped to, issued to? Where it’s been the last 76 years?

    Serial number: 2657830

I’m aware that a lot of Ithaca 1911s went to the Air Force, due to its 1945 serial number, and the overall condition of it, I’m thinking it missed out on WWII. I’m retired Air Force so I’m even more curious.

Any information would be interesting to me.

    Welcome to the forum.

I found a partial serial/shipping list in this thread that includes your serial. At one point this list was also available through the WayBack Machine but I'm unable to find it now.

Thanks! I did find that list somehow. My gun went to Raritan ordnance depot in September ‘45, so after the war ended. It would be interesting to know where it went from Raritan. I assume European Theater.

It’s not very beat up, so it probably never saw any hard use.

    Welcome to the group.

If you look at the forum category US Military Issue M1911 and M1911A1 Pistols

you can see photos of the 1943 Colt I received from C.M.P. last month. How about posting a few photos of your new pistol so we can all see?
    i sold all my handguns. . . . . . . . . . except for the 1911 style pistols in .45 ACP.

Nice pistol, possibly original finish. The serrated magazine release post war; difficult to tell much else from the photos. What kind of barrel?
