    Yes, I saw where some people stand them in a pan of water. One person said that he did that to ensure that he did not inadvertently overheat the case and allow excessive heat to spread to the base of the cartridge.

    Me neither, I've reloaded rifle brass since the late '60's (not steadily) and never thought of annealing or a need to. Ditto with pistol brass.
