Hello all,
I am new here. I have a 1911 United States Poperty. The Colt serial number on the frame shows
a date of manufacture 0f 1918.
The Slide has a number that is hard to read but it is clearly marked "February 14,1911- August 19,1912.
Is this mismatch of dates common?
Where would I get more information.
Thanks in advance...I look forward to discussing this and other collector issues.

The dates on the slide are for patents, not time of manufacture.
But a 1918 gun would have had a 1913 patent, too.
Yes, mismatched parts are common. Interchangeable parts were a requirement and stuff got moved around for a number of reasons.
