Trigger width ( side to side ) to narrow

I would like to tighten up the side-to-side play in my trigger ( ~2000 era Kimber TLE stainless )
It causes a slight wobble that you can feel thou I can't get my caliber's in there to measure.

I have tried to solder on material to the outside of the trigger bow ( trigger pad itself is aluminum ) to file down to a perfect fit but it just wont stick, even with a MAP torch, preparing with acetone, etc. I have soldered to stainless before, so I do not know what gives.

I would like to buy a new trigger and hand fit this dimension, but I do not really see this listed. Height and front-to-back length are the typical dimensions given.

Does anyone know of a trigger which is sider in the side to side dimension?

Here is the size of my trigger

    0.2450 wide
    0.9135 tall

The other alternative is to spread the trigger bow, but I am not sure how to do that. Any good recourses or youtube videos on this process? Most i've seen are to adjust pre-travel or swaging it for vertical fitting.

I bet if you spread the bow you'd feel an annoying scraping when taking up the pre-travel. I've got a TLE stainless full sized also, just checked and I feel no side to side play, maybe give Kimber a call?

You can peen the aluminum trigger shoe at the back, both sides, top and bottom using a small chisel or pin punch to displace aluminum that you can then carefully file down until the side-to-side play is eliminated.

I think it'll be best to get a new trigger, and see if I have to spread the trigger bow out a little bit, after fitting the shoe properly. I'm going to get new action parts anyways. After ~8k rounds, the Kimber MIM parts are a lil worn.

I’ve had very good service from Harrison Custom’s Extreme Service ignition sets (hammer, sear and disco) plus their hammer strut, strut pins, and other small parts. The quality is first rate.

I used John’s parts to de-MIM the only Kimber that I kept, because it was an anniversary present from the wife,15 years ago.

To put this all into perspective, the total side-to-side play of the trigger pad for an in-spec M1911A1 Gov't Model can be as much as 0.013".

Hey, wanted to give you a thumbs up. I was just going to buy a new one, but figured I needed to learn how to 'fix' issues first.

Turns out that the sides of the trigger were just barely no longer parallel, and narrowed just slightly towards the front-curve. Not sure how it changed with aging, maybe I accidently pinched it cleaning one time.
It's now parallel and feels much better.

Lol. Just noticed I'm still a 'new' member since 2005. That shows how rarely I post!

Seems to be common these days. I check in every week or so and see no new posts. Wasn't like that some years back.

The Harrison Design is the trigger I'd recommend. The width is better then the factory specs, but usually the only fitting is top and bottom. I prefer the smooth face
