    Colt Slide Question

I feel quite fortunate to have just received (9-13-2020) my CMP 1911 A1. It is a Colt slide on a Colt Frame. The frame was born in about June of 1945. The slide has all of the normal Colt printing (patent date info, Pony and Hartford production on the drivers side) and the P in front of the rear sight. There are no other markings. There is no serial number in the firing pin pocket area. My question is, is there a way to pin point a rough time era of production on the slide. I believe I read somewhere that replacement sildes did not have numbers stamped in the firing pin pocket. Thats about all I know about Colt slides. Any additional info would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Silent Rock

By 1945 the slide serial number was long gone.

Sometimes variations in the patent legend may roughly determine vintage. Perhaps posting a photo might help.
