New CQB Commander

Finally received my Wilson Combat CQB and it sure is all they say they are as far as quality and all. Went out on the BLM land on my 4 Wheeler yesterday and put 50 handloaded rounds through it at a local shooting area. My only complaint, not the guns fault, but with my formerly frostbitten weak hand muscles I have fits over-powering the mainspring to cock the trigger in order to work the slide. Maybe leaving it cocked and locked might weaken it just a bit?

Thanks, Rick, hoping that would help. Plus I had a left hand thumb operation the 13th of July to make matters worse. Loaded up 50 more rounds but believe it or not, it snowed yesterday afternoon and right now (5AM) it's 33°.

You could give WC a call and tell them your predicament. Ask them what weight mainsprings they use for these pistols, and if it might be a good idea to swap in a lighter one, possibly combined with a smaller-radius FP stop, maybe?

Yessir, thought of that plus maybe a lighter recoil spring but since I only have 50 rounds through it so far, thought I might live with it for a few hundred rounds and see if it gets a bit more broken in. Plus my left hand has still got more strength to regain after being carved on.

I'm not Spyros, but the answer is yes. The reason the U.S. military went to the larger radius on the firing pin stop was specifically to make the pistol easier to cock.

That's been my take also. And my left hand has gotten its strength back after being operated on and if I grit my teeth, I can actually rack the slide with an uncocked trigger. Won't admit it anywhere but here, I watched some You Tube vids for women who have trouble racking 1911 slides and they were helpful.
jdsmoke, sorry, don't know how to post pics here. Mine is just the standard all black Commander CQB with the Armor Tuff finish. No buyer's remorse, I like it a LOT!

I'm in the need for a bit of "edumacation" here. I understand how a less powerful mainspring would make for easier cocking of a 1911, but how/why would a larger radius on a firing pin stop affect it?? Thanks!
