Who makes mags that come with Springfield "1911-A1 Mil-Spec" pistols?

I have a brand new Springfield "1911-A1 Mil-Spec" pistol. It came with two 7-round mags with no manufacturer's markings evident.

I disassembled for the purpose of converting them to 8 round capacity. First I tried a "Checkmate" brand conversion kit. Then I tried a "Wilson Combat" conversion kit. Neither one would work. I posted on the Facebook group for Springfield Armory owners, figuring there would be plenty of people owning these lower priced pistols. Not one person responding had anything good to write about the mags that came with their pistols. At present my thinking is to just get those two unused conversion kits out of there and save them for future use, while disposing of the magazines that came with the Springfield Armory in the trash. Still I remain curious. Does anybody know who makes these mags for Springfield Armory? IMG_0167.jpg IMG_0166.jpg IMG_0165.jpg

Do they have a weld seam up the center of the back?

It looks like a normal, GI-spec magazine, with parallel or "hybrid" lips and a tapped basepad. If I had to guess, I'd say either Checkmate or Metalform.

My inclination would be to keep the magazine and throw the conversion kits in the trash, because fitting 8 rounds in a flush-bottom magazine that some very clever folks designed for 7 rounds, doesn't sit well with me, but that IS just me.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

I wouldn’t throw the mags away unless they wouldn’t function properly.

In other words; shoot the gun with the mags provided, and see if they work reliably. That’ll give you more useful information than internet advice or guesses.

Too late, they're gone. if I were using both 7 and 8 round mags it might be different. But I only use 8 rounders.

And you wonder why you have problems.

Unless you're talking about extended magazines (that are longer than the pistols magazine well), any 8-round, flush-fit magazine is a compromise. My view: John Moses Browning was a firearms design genius. If John Moses Browning had thought he could make the 1911 work -- reliably -- with an 8-round magazine, don't you think he would have done so? If Colt and Browning had showed up with 8-round magazines for the Ordnance Department acceptance trials, do you suppose the Ordnance Department would have said, "That's a nice pistol you have there, Mr. Browning, but could you please make it so it holds less ammunition?"

The 1911 was designed to function reliably with 7-round magazines. If I inadvertently come into possession of any flush-fit, 8-round magazines ... the first thing I do is convert them to the reliable, 7-round configuration, using GI-spec followers. Curiously enough, they always seem to work (except for el cheapo, no-name magazines that have out-of-spec bodies. There's no hope for those).

The only conversion kit that I'd think would work with a standard length tube would be the one from Chip McCormick

The Devel follower takes up the least amount of space in the tube and the follower itself is a spring.
