    1911a1 gift

One of my buddies gave me this Colt 1911 the other day, the pistol is mixed parts but still a neat representation of a typical pistol 75 years later. The frame is 1944 Colt and the slide 1939 C lot US Navy contract with serial number 714682, the barrel is post war marked on hood Colt 45 Auto.

Nice pistol. Better looking than most out of the recent CMP sales.

As I've already told you, I wish I had buddies like yours!
It's a bit of a mixmaster, but still a nice pistol.

Yes I am blessed with a few true friends and I try to live up to their expectations also. I checked the 1911 out finding the slide to be a 1939 Colt US Navy contract and the frame a 1944 Colt, it has a Colt Rislone magazine and a post war Colt barrel. The parts may be mixed and it has a 1/4 ton trigger pull but I still shot 1 1/2” groups at seven yards without a problem function wise.
