my AO 1911 wont drop the hammer

I bought a Trump AO and few months ago. Since then i have been doing some try firing. The trigger was nice from the factory .Now it wont drop the hammer like if I was firing it. I have had the beaver tail out when i was wanting to install a ambi safety,I decided to keep the stock safety. I didn't alter or bend anything that i know of. Does anyone have any thought on what might have happened?? any help would would be appreciated
    Thanks Barry

I started to think about maybe the set screw in the trigger might have something with it not letting the trigger move enough. Bam made a few turns and it's back to normal. Should the adjustment screw move on its own??
    Thanks Barry

No, the overtravel set screw on the trigger should (must) not move on its own. If it does, either remove and discard it or replace with a self-locking set screw (one with a little nylon plug in its side).

Put purple Loctite (#222) on the set screw.

When I had cause to think my overtravel screw was causing some issues (gun with Series-80 style firing pin safety) I solved the problem by placing the screw in a ziplock baggie.

Interestingly, the screw had remnants of glue on it (not sure what color) so I don't know how/why it moved, I certainly hadn't messed with it before, but removing it solved my problem. I'm not a good enough shooter to be hampered by overtravel anyway.

I had the same problem with my Auto Ordnance. Mine did not have an overtravel screw. It took a trip to the gunsmith to get that made right. That was the first of numerous trips to the gunsmith for problem after problem. I solved the problem by selling the pistol, having realized that it just wasn't a quality firearm. I hope you fare better with yours than I did with mine.
    i sold all my handguns. . . . . . . . . . except for the 1911 style pistols in .45 ACP.

The AOs being made over the last few years are far superior to the early ones like I had back in the mid-80’s.
