I was browsing around the net the other day and came across these Colt 1911, 22LR pistols. Started doing a search on reviews and found that this gun is actually rated very good. They were running about $300 to $350 (MSRP a little over $400). Buds had them on sale for $254 so I ordered one.
My sample weights 32.8 ounces compared to a full size 1911 which is close to 40 ounces. It really feels good in your hand with the rubber grips and full size frame.
I have read that the gun likes 40 gr. CCI MiniMag solid point ammo the best. Today at the range, I fist tried some CCI MiniMags (36 gr., hp) ammo and the gun ran perfectly with it. I then tried some CCI Stingers and the gun would not run at all (which was expected).
Finally, I tried the recommended CCI MiniMag 40 grn solid point and again, it ran without a hiccup.
This thing is so much fun, I decided to order an Advantage Arms, 22 LR conversion for a Colt Commander. I plan on putting it on a nice Combat Commander or a full size ATI MilSpec .45.
Will let you know how it works out.
Would appreciate and comments and/or advise on these .22 guns and conversions.
Thanks gang,
trooper Joe
