    If I had the 4" mutation, I would get a flatwire setup for it. Glock springs work very well in my 4.4" shortened GM and my 3.6" OACP.

    The reason that Kimber is giving the 22 pound recommendation for recoil spring weight is because, as I noted above; the spring they use is actually designed for a 3 1/2” pistol!

    My four inch 9mm 1911 runs great on a 13 pound recoil spring made for a Commander length (4 1/4”) pistol.

    As Hawk noted; the standard for 9mm 1911s seems to be a 14 pound recoil spring.

    You can buy Commander recoil springs at Midway covering a wide range of spring weights. On a properly sized recoil spring; 22 pounds is too heavy for 9mm.
