The Charleston, S.C. debate stage was the place for Democratic presidential candidates wanting to show their lack of firearms knowledge and Americans’ Second Amendment rights. From former Vice President Joe Biden, to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg and the rest, crosstalk and heated back-and-forth on the criminal misuse of firearms dominated. However, the candidates’ platforms included wildly false statements, tired scare language and egregiously wrong facts. The only coherent message is they’re aiming squarely at knocking down the rights of law-abiding gun owners instead of addressing crime. Read Larry Keane’s article on the debate debacle.
