    Are they better ???

I haven't paid attention to anything Taurus has done or made in over 10 years.
Yesterday, I saw a used Taurus 1911 for a very good price at a local pawn shop.
Is the quality on Taurus 1911's better than it use to be. This one is a 2017 mfg, I know the early years kinda had issues.

When I worked for a LGS that was the only Taurus model I never saw for repair. The only conclusions are that were never fired or they worked.
If you don't mind the name go for it.

I don’t know anything about the newer ones, but I know that the few I worked on at a friends gun shop @2010-2011 were dimensionally “off” here and there compared to other brands that I worked on at that time.

Hopefully someone with more recent experience with the brand will chime in...

I have two older Taurus 357 magnum revolvers, which are quality arms, and their PT1911 interested me because of the ambi safety.
I have been shooting Colts for over 40 years, and have learned to manipulate the safety as a left hander.

On the second range trip, the "off" side of the safety came loose and bound the weapon up completely. The grip was the only thing that kept it actually on the gun.
I put it back together a number of times, even used non-permanent Loc Tite the last time. No good.
It has been resting, unfired, for maybe 10 years now.

I'd sell it, but am too ethical to sell someone something that could cost him his life.

At this point, I'm ready to put a standard safety on it so its functional, and sell it.
I have two Colts and an RIA, I'm not hurting for a 1911A1.
